Is Reading and Leeds the go-to festival for rap this summer?

The 2026 Reading Festival lineup

With the festival rapidly approaching, we wanted to take a look through the lineup. Historically Reading & Leeds is a multi genre festival that books many pop, indie, rock and electronic artists, but in recent years, Reading & Leeds seems to have taken a larger step into rap. After the crazy day in 2025 where Travis Scott, Trippie Redd, Lancey Foux and DJ EJ performed, the festival has booked more rappers this year, and is showing love to independent artists from the UK.

With the absence of Wireless, a festival that typically platforms many upcoming UK rappers, the “UK Underground” seems to have been picked up by R&L this summer. We are seeing names like Ceebo, Dexter, Finessekid and Sinn6r on Reading & Leeds lineup performing on many of their biggest stages yet. We are seeing the pioneers of the next generation of UK music getting recognised and stepping in front of the mainstream audience.

Moments like this matter because they change what’s possible. Festival slots introduce artists to thousands of new listeners, validate scenes that have largely grown independently, and show promoters that there is real demand for the next wave of talent.

Whether it’s the start of a bigger shift or a one-off moment remains to be seen. But for UK & US underground music, this is one of the biggest wins of the summer.
